Heinz Mergel has taken over as “lord of the house” at the industrial park from 1 January 2009
Heinz Mergel (50), Managing Director of IGS (Industriepark Gersthofen Servicegesellschaft), has taken over as head of the industrial park with its twelve companies. This role includes, for example, representing the interests of the companies located at the industrial park to the public and is the first point of contact at the industrial park for questions from the local authorities, government agencies and the community. As 'lord of the house', part of his responsibility is coordinating all of the company’s affairs.
New roles for Dr Hermann Teufel
The former head of the industrial park, Dr Hermann Teufel, has taken on new roles with the holding company of IGS, MVV Energiedienstleistungen GmbH in Mannheim. Existing business and strategies for growth within the group require a high level of support which go beyond the projects in Gersthofen. In addition to representing IGS and MVV Energiedienstleistungen to government agencies and institutions, he will be responsible for additional tasks, in particular in the area of strategic development, which arise from the holding company's activities. Matthias Bolle and Heinz Mergel are responsible for operations at IGS in Gersthofen.
Dr Teufel will still remain active to promote business in the region. For example, he will still serve as chair of the Swabian regional office to the Bavarian business association vbw. As an expert on environmental issues, he is chair to the Bavarian environmental network, KUMAS (Center of Competence in Environmental Affairs). He will continue to be based in Gersthofen.
Heinz Mergel was born on 8 March 1958 in Nussloch, Germany and grew up in the town near Heidelberg. After completing professional training and a qualification as technician, he took a degree in Industrial Engineering at Karlsruhe Polytechnic including a second degree in Computer Engineering at the Mannheim Polytechnic for Engineering.
From 1986 until the end of 2007, Heinz Mergel served in various posts at Freudenberg industrial park in Weinheim, Germany. Among his posts, he managed the industrial power plant there including all supply and waste management facilities and was responsible for overseeing the facilities at the industrial park. Furthermore, he has served as Head of the Department Energy for Power and Gas Purchasing for all Freudenberg sites in Germany.
Since January 2008, Heinz Mergel worked for MVV Energiedienstleistungen GmbH transferring in Mai 2008 to the subsidiary IGS in Gersthofen. His main interests lie in the issues related to energy management and combined heat and power generation on which he has lectured at numerous conferences. He also holds numerous honorary posts in these areas.
Heinz Mergel is married and has three children.
